Yvonne Hook

Voice and Piano Lessons

Yvonne Hook has sung and taught professionally for over 30 years. She has a Bachelor of Music degree in voice from Wheaton College (Illinois) and a Master of Music degree in voice/opera and music education from Northwestern University. She is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and was a voting member in the Grammys for 18 years. 

As a singer she performed throughout the Chicago area both in solo and choral concerts. She performed as a member of the Chicago Symphony Chorus for 13 years.  As a member of the CSC she sang at Carnegie Hall and the Berlin Philharmonic. She has taught private voice and piano, and also taught in public school programs under the auspices of the Chicago Symphony Community Engagement Program as well as the Chicago Children’s Choir. Since moving to the east coast almost 20 years ago she has soloed with orchestras in Pennsylvania. She taught at the Maryland Conservatory of Music for 6 years. She performs now as part of the folk/bluegrass duo The Hooks with her husband. With her extensive musical knowledge and experience, Yvonne has the ability to offer her students a truly well-rounded musical education.
