Drew Bastian is an accomplished musician and educator with deep musical roots, spanning across a range of instruments including drums, guitar, piano, vocals, and bass. His musical journey began under the tutelage of his grandfather, a clinician for the Zildjian cymbal company and a professor at Mansfield University. Drew further honed his skills at Penn State, embracing a wide spectrum of ensembles from philharmonic orchestras to the iconic Blue Band.
His versatility as a musician led him to the theatre world, where he showcased his talent in national and international tours such as HAIR and A Charlie Brown Christmas, and graced stages alongside Broadway luminaries including Daveed Diggs, Bernadette Peters, and the original cast of HAIRSPRAY. In the contemporary music scene, he has played with a range of bands from pop cover groups to original punk outfits, performing at esteemed venues and festivals like The Gramercy Theater, Rough Trade, CMJ, and SXSW.
Believing in the unifying power of music, Drew states, “I know nothing that can connect people like music can. It’s like folding a map and bringing all of us together. I think Shakespeare, as usual, has it right. If music be the food of love, play on!”
